| Me acabo de enterar en el foro de Dantoine, que estados unidos acaba de legalizar todo software abandonado  QUOTE La oficina de Copyright de Estados Unidos ( www.copyright.gov/1201/) ha determinado que a partir del 26 de Noviembre de 2006 esta disponible al acceso público el software no disponible comercialmente, comunmente denominado Abandonware ("Programas y videojuegos descatalogados o difíciles de encontrar en venta, debido a su antigüedad." es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abandonware) La fuente original es esta: http://www.pcsintel.com/content/view/1638/9/Basicamente y para lo que nos interesa de la ley dice que: QUOTE The Librarian of Congress, on the recommendation of the Register of Copyrights, has announced the classes of works subject to the exemption from the prohibition against circumvention of technological measures that control access to copyrighted works. Persons making noninfringing uses of the following six classes of works will not be subject to the prohibition against circumventing access controls (17 U.S.C. § 1201(a)(1)) during the next three years.

Computer programs and video games distributed in formats that have become obsolete and that require the original media or hardware as a condition of access, when circumvention is accomplished for the purpose of preservation or archival reproduction of published digital works by a library or archive. A format shall be considered obsolete if the machine or system necessary to render perceptible a work stored in that format is no longer manufactured or is no longer reasonably available in the commercial marketplace.
3. Computer programs protected by dongles that prevent access due to malfunction or damage and which are obsolete. A dongle shall be considered obsolete if it is no longer manufactured or if a replacement or repair is no longer reasonably available in the commercial marketplace. En nuestro foro Gocho, un compañero, ha dicho: QUOTE Vamos, según entiendo yo. Si eres una biblioteca o archivo de los USA puedes infringir el copyright (que incluiría crackear y distribuir juegos y programas) si el sistema donde se distribuían se ha quedado obsoleto y no se manufactura más ni se vende. O si el sistema de protección usaba un Dongle Hardware ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dongle) que ya no está accesible. Lo que así a ojo incluye: - Placas de Recreativa - Cartuchos de consola (excepto GBA no creo que se fabrique ya ninguno) - Disquetes de 5" 1/4 Dios, que ganas de que dejen de fabricar las disqueteras xDD Por otro lado. ¿Que se entiende en los USA por "library or archive"?
